#HireHer – Our Newest Initiative
Question: What is the 'Hire Her' campaign?
A: The 'Hire Her' campaign is an initiative being piloted by the Association of Black Women in Project and Program Management to spotlight the professional and economic reality of many Black women in the USA.
Question: What does the campaign consist of?
A: The 'Hire Her' campaign consists of (i) bringing continued awareness to the ways in which economic shifts are disproportionately impacting Black women across the organization's social media channels, (ii) connecting with our members who may be navigating the changes in the job market and have either recently or previously been impacted, and (iii) establishing/managing an evergreen network of key decision makers and employers who are in positions to bridge the gap between employment for our members.
Question: How does the organization plan to meet these objectives?
A: The 'Hire Her' campaign is consistent of two different tracks to the same outcome. After submitting one's information, our admin team will reach out via email to confirm the information provided and collect any applicable details. We subsequently assess your responses against our growing database of potential employment opportunities. From there, we will create a spotlight post of you to feature within our respective social media communities.
Please note: this step is completely optional and NOT a condition for support.
After the social media post is approved and the channels it is to be featured on is confirmed (we will send you the post ahead of time for review and final approval), the post is scheduled for 48-72 hours out. During this time, we [ideally] will initiate a warm introduction via email with one of our contacts that is either: (i) an ABWIPPM member available as a reference for open opportunities at their company of employment, (ii) a key decision maker in hiring or talent acquisition for a company or employment agency, or (iii) a business owner with opportunities available within their company. While we cannot guarantee job interviews or employment post-introduction, we do want to leverage every resource we are connected with to pull one another up.
Please note: The warm introduction is the intended outcome for each submission. You are not required to authorize a public-facing spotlight feature for assistance.
Question: What are the eligibility qualifications to be featured in the 'Hire Her' campaign?
A: To be eligible to be featured in the 'Hire Her' campaign, you must meet the following criteria: (a) be an active member of the Association of Black Women in Project & Program Management (all membership tiers qualify, subscription revenue is not a determining factor in selection), (b) currently un- or underemployed for a period of 0 to 24+ months, actively navigating the changes in the job market and have either recently or previously been impacted, and (c) willing to provide a copy of your resume or summary of your professional experience to assist in the campaign process. Beyond that, we just ask for your patience once you've reached out, as we want to ensure we manage each step with a qualitative approach. You can submit your interest and provide us with your background details by completing this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bwDhTazt3R3QjOHqlVtHoBZYy9YWJSRVsoQwOsgddBY/edit
Question: What if I'm actively employed, but searching for a new job?
A: The 'Hire Her' campaign prioritizes members who are actively unemployed or underemployed in an effort to mitigate some of the stress and extent of job searching in this current labor market. As a result, we are not able to assist respondents who are gainfully employed but looking for new roles at this time. We welcome all ABWIPPM members to browse and leverage the internal Jobs & RFP Board to learn about new opportunities vetted by the Association.
Question: What if my resume and background or professional interests don't align with what your network has immediate access or visibility to?
A: The unfortunate reality is that we will likely not be able to support every single member who submits their information. In those cases, we will contact that member directly and inform them of the current limitations. We're happy to keep information on record for as long as our members are comfortable, so in the event that something more aligned becomes available a bit further along the way, we can and will reach out.
Question: Where will the features be? Is it public facing?
A: Publicizing the features is completely optional and not a condition for support. The features will be spotlighted across ABWIPPM's public LinkedIn page, as well as our private LinkedIn and Facebook Groups. Members to be spotlighted are required to authorize being featured across all, some, or none of the channels. Please note: a publicized feature is NOT a condition of support – if you do not wish to be publicly featured at all, this simply identifies the requirement to let us know as such before we're able to proceed. We are still committed to offering the help we can.
Question: Do I need to be a member of the private groups to be featured in them?
A: No, you are not required to be a member of the private LinkedIn or Facebook groups in order to be featured throughout this campaign.
Question: Can I still be spotlighted if I do not want to consent to being posted on public channels?
A: Yes. Even if you do not wish to be publicly featured, we are still able to spotlight you in a manner which offers more comfort. As an alternative for publication, we will take into account your survey responses in hopes of being able to connect you with an opportunity from within our growing professional network.
Question: What does featuring look like?
A: After submitting one's information, our admin team will reach out via email to confirm the information provided and collect any applicable details. We subsequently assess your responses against our growing database of potential employment opportunities. From there, we will create a spotlight post of you to feature within our respective social media communities. The spotlight post will be a graphic that features your headshot and a short bio (150-200 words, written using your resume). The purpose of this step is to emphasize your skill set and endorse you publicly in an effort to get the right set of eyes on it – ideally leading to an introduction, a discussion, an interview, or a job opportunity/offer.
Question: How often are members featured?
A: Each member will be featured/spotlighted once, with two members being featured per week. The warm introduction outcome is one that abides the same timeline, so on average, twice weekly.
Question: How can I help?
A: If you are (i) an ABWIPPM member available as a reference for open opportunities at their company of employment, (ii) a key decision maker in hiring or talent acquisition for a company or employment agency, or (iii) a business owner with opportunities available within their company, we would LOVE to hear from you. As an ABWIPPM member; whether you're an organization's team member, manager, director, officer, principal, or owner, we believe you can support from wherever you're at. Question: How long will the 'Hire Her' campaign run?
A: As long as it takes. Our preliminary goal is to operate this pipeline through the end of Q2 2026 (September 2026) at the earliest. However, we recognize the need for such a project and as such will keep the campaign running for as long as we feasibly can beyond then.
